Enjoy the great outdoors at Orcas Island in Washington.
Moran State Park encompasses 5,424 acres of wilderness on Orcas Island. Enjoy all the park has to offer during a day trip, or reserve one of their 151 camping sites and sleep under the stars. Glamping is another option (five sites available May through September) if you want to stay at the southern end of the park. This state park offers 38 miles of hiking, 11 miles of biking, and 6 miles of equestrian trails. There are five freshwater lakes that are perfect for relaxing, swimming, non-motorized boating, and fishing for rainbow, kokanee, and cutthroat trout.
Keep your eyes peeled for orcas out on the water and spend some time watching the local birds and other creatures. Hike or drive up to Mount Constitution and soak in panoramic views of the San Juan archipelago. You are also welcome to enjoy a picnic at one of their picnic tables in the day use area. They have 55 uncovered and 6 sheltered picnic tables available on a first-come, first-served basis.
