The Robert J. Moody Demonstration Garden is an education demonstration garden named in honor of a local community leader Robert J. Moody (November 28, 1914 - December 27, 2000). Moody developed the 4-H youth program in Yuma and was its leader for over 30 years. He helped initiate the first Yuma County Fair and was part of the delegation that went to Washington D.C. to lobby for federal funds for the Gila Project. Moody also was the chairman of many community, business, and agricultural organizations in the area.
This garden is open to the public and features exhibits showcasing many local plants. Feel free to walk around the sidewalk looping around the entire garden. Within the garden, you will see a children's garden, a healing garden, a tropical garden, a vegetable garden, an herb garden, a xeriscape garden, a desert wildflower garden, a cutting garden, and a native plants garden. The Demonstration Garden is open daily, and admission is free. This desert oasis was created by the local community and is maintained by volunteer gardeners. You are welcome to use one of the many tables to sit and have a picnic outside. If you love nature, add the Robert J. Moody Demonstration Garden to your Arizona itinerary.
