Take a tour of the historic McDowell brick house dating back to the early 1800s.
Located in Western North Carolina, the Quaker Meadows Plantation features a fully restored two-story brick house originally built by Captain Charles McDowell Jr. The architectural style of this building is vernacular federal and has tall chimneys and a detached kitchen, plus an outdoor garden just behind the kitchen. Inside, you will notice wallpaper lining the walls, and even though it is not original to the building, they do include patterns around during the time period.
The house is open for tours on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm May through October. Admission rates for children 12 and under are free and $5 for adults. You can also call ahead to schedule an appointment for your group.
