Powell’s Bookstore is a classic stop for many tourists in Oregon and is known as “the world’s largest independent bookstore.” What is unique about this bookstore is there are 3 stories with an endless supply of books on their shelves. A service desk is located on each floor to provide assistance, recommendations, and maps to locate the genre you want. A children’s room is located with many sitting areas for little ones to sit and read. The store also includes board games and memorabilia from different book series and movies. 

There are both new and used books at this store, and they offer opportunities for customers to sell personal book collections here. If you want to join in on one of their live events, most of them are free to attend. These events will highlight a specific book and introduce you to its author. Powell’s is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 6 pm. Feel free to stop by the pizza place across the street or taste some of the delicious cuisines offered at the nearby food trucks if you get hungry after reading or browsing at this iconic bookstore.
