Explore this magnificent French Renaissance-style estate.
The Pittock Mansion was built in 1914 and is now a museum that allows visitors to walk through an authentic 20th-century mansion. When you look at the vintage furniture and artifacts, some pieces are original and used back when Henry Pittock and his wife Georgiana Burton Pittock lived there with their nine children.
Among the different rooms that you can explore, you will notice a library, a sewing room, five bedrooms, a music room, a Turkish smoking room, and two sleeping porches. The mansion's architecture allows you to get a breathtaking view of downtown Portland and the Cascade Mountains. Another building on the grounds that you can visit is called The Gate Lodge. This was where Pittock’s chauffeur and his wife resided, as well as various other families after them. The estate originally had 46 acres, and the mansion was restored to exhibit what it originally looked like in the 1930s and 1940s.
On the grounds, you can view beautiful gardens consisting of different flowers and bushes. This mansion also has an incredible view of Portland since it is located on the West hills. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this impressive historic estate.
