Take a train ride through Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma Railway Museum is located just south of the Oklahoma City Zoo. It features a train museum where guests can learn about the history of trains and how they impacted Oklahoma's transportation during the 20th century. Be sure to look at the display train on the grounds, it is a 1913 Pullman sleeper car full of train artifacts and neat displays. Regular museum hours are Thursday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission to the museum is free.
Train rides are usually scheduled every first and third Saturday of the month from April to August, so it is best to book your tickets in advance. They also have an Easter Express train, Independence Day train, Halloween train, and other special events. If you're here during the holidays, they offer a seasonal Polar Express event from the end of November through early January on select dates. The Polar Express is a one-hour train ride where guests can meet Santa and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies.
