See one of the few remaining late Spanish Colonial period historic homes in the southwestern United States.
The Martinez Hacienda is a historic home located in Taos, New Mexico. This place was established in 1804 by Severino Martin (later changed to Martinez), and it features adobo walls and a fortress-like shape. Severino and his wife raised their six children in this home, and this building features 21 rooms and two courtyards. Guests will get a glimpse of history at the Martinez Hacienda because they have regularly scheduled demonstrations depicting life in northern New Mexico during the 1800s.
If you're planning to road trip in the fall, consider coming to Taos, New Mexico, during their annual Old Taos Trade Fair. This fair occurs in early November, just like it did in the 18th and early 19th centuries after the harvest. They often have traditional Native American dances and other cultural celebrations at the hacienda during the fair. If you want a cultural experience and enjoy learning about history, don't hesitate to visit the Martinez Hacienda.
