Come and discover some of the most interesting geological formations you will ever see.
This stunning national monument is located West of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and these mystical geological wonders range from a few feet up to 90 feet tall. The rock structures are said to be about 6 to 7 million years old. If you enjoy hiking, the nearby trails have several educational signs that tell you more about the interesting things you see along the way.
If you come during the summer, be sure to pack plenty of water and trail mix for your hike in the desert. There are two main trails to this location, which are easily accessible from the parking lot. This area tends to be a popular tourist attraction, so you will need to come earlier in the day to get a good parking spot. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in or around the national monument. Their hours are 8 am to 4 pm, but be sure to arrive before 3:30 pm because they start closing procedures around that time.
