This state park sits on Lake Eerie and is a prime spot for relaxing beach days, boating, fishing, and hiking.
East Harbor State Park covers more than 1,800 acres of beaches, wetlands, and forest right on the peaceful shores of Lake Erie. One of the biggest draws of the park is the expansive beach, which is perfect for days spent sunbathing, picnicking, walking, and of course, swimming. The calm water of the lake makes it ideal for families with little ones who want to splash around for hours on end. The park is also a great spot to launch out of for boating, fishing, and paddling. Bluegill, crappie, and carp are common species you can expect to catch if you cast your line!
Aside from the beach, there are many hiking trails to choose from throughout the park that range from easy to moderate in difficulty. Several bird species migrate here in the spring and fall, so these are the prime times for birdwatching. During the winter months, the park turns into a wonderland of outdoor adventure. Visitors can partake in snowmobiling, ice skating, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing when the conditions are right! If you’re an avid birder, love to be out on the water, or simply wanting the perfect nature getaway, East Harbor State Park is a fantastic destination that provides visitors with the opportunity to explore its many wonders.
