Play at one of the oldest parks in northern Alabama.
Delano Park is located in downtown Decatur, Alabama. It features a basketball court, splash pad, walking trails, and a rose garden. A great way to stay cool is by heading to the splash pad, which is open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10 am to 7 pm. The rose garden was built in 1934 and provides a beautiful place of solace for the town. This historic garden was the brainchild of Carolyn Cortner Smith, one of Alabama's first female architects. With thousands of rose bushes, it truly is a sight to see. You should also stop by the sculpture garden while you're here. It features seven sculptures made out of bronze and steel and showcases the natural beauty of the area.
The park sits on 28 acres of land and was founded in 1887. It is on the national register of historic places. Please note that pets, frisbees, skateboards, bicycles, and roughhousing are not allowed at Delano Park. This is a family-friendly park where you can make great memories and spend quality time with your family and friends.
