Visit a stunning building and see the rotating art exhibits inside.
The Carnegie Visual Art Center has been open since 2003 and is housed in a historic building. On the first floor of the Carnegie, they have rotating art exhibits. Their lower level has an education center where you can learn about and make your own art pieces. This historic building was completed in 1904 and was a city library funded by Andrew Carnegie. At the turn of the century, plans were discussed to transform the building into an art center, and the plans were well received by the local community.
Carnegie Visual Art Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Admission is free for everyone, but they always welcome donations from visitors. A fun time to visit is around Mardis Gras when the Carnegie puts on a parade and Carnival celebration for the town. If you enjoy looking at art, be sure to stop by the Carnegie Visual Art Center in Decatur, Alabama. It is situated across from the Tennessee River in a beautiful part of downtown Decatur.
