The Brunnier Art Museum is named after its benefactors, Henry J. Brunnier and his wife, Ann. This museum has been open to the public since 1975. It includes two art museums, a National Historic Landmark historic home museum, a sculpture garden, and one of the largest campus public art collections in the nation. The Brunnier Art Museum features a permanent collection and regularly changing exhibitions. Various art pieces are on display, such as prints, paintings, sculptures, textiles, carpets, wood, lacquered objects, silver, ceramics, glass, dolls, ivory, jade, enameled metals, and furniture. They also have educational programs, including lectures, receptions, conferences, university classes, and panel discussions regularly.
This art museum is free to visit, but they always welcome donations, and it is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm on the weekends. The Brunnier Art Museum is located about 30 miles north of Des Moines and is genuinely one of a kind. If you love art and are passing through Iowa, you won't regret stopping here.
