Visit Iowa's most historic state park.
Ledges State Park is located east of the Des Moines River in Madrid, Iowa. It features a 4-mile trail system with scenic views of Pea's Creek, camping sites, picnic areas, and more. The easiest trails include the Lost Lake Interpretive Trail (which is ADA accessible), Prairie Trail, and Oak Woods Trail. This state park is a popular place for families to have a daytime outing or picnic. If you want to stay longer, you can bring a tent or RV and enjoy a nice camping trip with friends and family. There are sites with electric hookups, and they also have a dump station here for your convenience.
This is one of the first state parks in Iowa. Scenic spots that provide perfect photo opportunities include the stone bridge, Council Ring, Inspiration Point, and Crow's Nest. One of the hardest trails is the Crow's Nest Trail, which is located in the northwestern most part of the park. If you love the great oudoors, be sure to visit Ledges State Park the next time you're in Iowa.
