Boyd Hill Nature Preserve offers several miles of hiking trails as well as amazing opportunities to see native plant and wildlife species.
The Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is a lovely 245-acre nature preserve that’s located in St. Petersburg, Florida. It features a variety of habitats such as pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, and mangrove swamps. You’ll also find Lake Maggiore and 6 miles of trails throughout this peaceful preserve. Boyd Hill is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna including alligators, snakes, birds, and many types of native flowers and trees. The preserve also has a wonderful nature center where visitors are able to learn about the local ecosystem and how to help protect it.
Boyd Hill is the perfect place to enjoy birdwatching, hiking, camping, and nature photography. On a nice spring day, you’re bound to see an abundance of wildlife roaming about! The park is closed Mondays and the hours for the rest of the week change depending on the season, so be sure to check their site before making your way here! Entry is $3 for adults, $1.50 for children 3-16, and free for children under 3. If you’re in the Tampa or St. Petersburg area and are longing for some peaceful time in the great outdoors, definitely head to the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve!
