Taking up 15 beautiful acres and boasting more than 20,000 plants, this impressive botanical paradise was founded in 1973, is a Smithsonian affiliate, and has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The gardens have one of the most diverse collections of epiphytic plants in the world, with thousands of species on display in their natural habitats. As you meander through the oasis, you’ll discover different gardens such as ones dedicated to herbs, orchids, bonsais, and a rainforest garden. From the tranquility of the bamboo garden to the breathtaking beauty of the banyan grove, every corner of the gardens is utterly delightful.
Aside from its natural beauty that visitors get to bask in, the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is also a center for research, conservation, and education. Marie Selby holds events, programs, and initiative during the year, always working to preserve endangered plant species and inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
