See the highest point along the Lincoln Highway at this monument in Wyoming.
While driving through Wyoming between Cheyenne and Laramie on the Lincoln Highway, drivers can't miss seeing the giant head of President Abraham Lincoln. This remarkable two-ton monument head is sitting on the tiny shoulder of a 30-foot-tall pure granite pedestal. The monument was created in 1959 by Isaiah Russin, an art professor who worked in Wyoming. It was built to commemorate the coast-to-coast Lincoln Highway, and it is the only monument of Abraham Lincoln you can see along the Lincoln Highway.
Located adjacent to the statute is a rest stop and a visitor center. The visitor center is open from mid-May to mid-October. Enjoy a quick stop to see all the interesting exhibits there. At the visitor center, visitors can learn all about Abraham Lincoln. You will also see sweeping views of the highway, and find travel information. The visitor center also hosts the memorial of the late Robert and Adel M. Russin. Russin had an obsession with Abraham Lincoln, and he even named his son after the infamous president.
