“We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto…” but The Wizard of Oz Museum is! If you find yourself in Wamego, Kansas, don’t pass up this charming tribute to the beloved book and classic film. The Oz Museum is dedicated to all things Oz, attracting visitors from all around the globe. The museum features several exhibits, including a pair of hand jeweled ruby slippers, flying monkey miniatures used in the 1939 film, the earliest Baum books, Oz board games, and over 2,000 artifacts from the Oz legacy. You will be able to see the history of the earliest silent film adaptations to the modern Broadway hit musical Wicked and be swept away in a world of magic and imagination at The Wizard of Oz Museum.
The Oz Museum was built with the help of a grant from the State of Kansas and thousands of volunteer hours from the locals of the small community. It is located just off of l-70 on Kansas Highway on “The Road to Oz." Museum hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day are Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, and Sundays from 12 pm to 6 pm. Winter hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. Standard admission is $9 for ages 13+ and $7 for ages 3-12.
