The Tacoma Nature Center is open from 8:30 am till 30 minutes after dusk and is a family-friendly attraction featuring engaging hands-on learning activities for kids and adults. There is a museum full of artifacts plus an informative film about the history of this region. The Tacoma Nature Center has several hiking trails surrounding Snake Lake and features wetlands and forests. Many visitors come each year to see the unique landscape, wildlife, and plants.
Enjoy the self-interpretive walking trails and use the free app to learn more about the native plants and animals. The walking trails are marked and visitors must stay on the trail to protect the fragile ecosystem. A half-mile ADA-accessible trail is also nearby. Feel free to explore the nature center Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. If you want to buy a souvenir or pick up a trail map, head to the gift shop. A popular spot at Tacoma Nature Center is the Discovery Pond, which is an outdoor area that is ideal for kids to play and engage with the nature around them. Please note that the Discovery Pond is open from 9:30 am to 30 minutes after dusk. If you're traveling through western Washington, don't miss out on the Tacoma Nature Center.
