Enjoy the great outdoors among North Carolina’s old-growth cypress trees.
This state park has a lot to offer and is a quiet spot that can help you feel closer to nature. Although tent camping is not allowed, visitors can reserve the Canebrake Family Cabin year-round for full weekly periods running Sunday through Saturday. It houses up to 12 people and includes a kitchen, one full bathroom, an outdoor fire ring, a charcoal grill, and a picnic table with picturesque views of Singletary Lake. This lake features a 500-foot pier that is perfect for fishing. The main fish populations here include perch and pickerel. You can also go swimming or bring a canoe and enjoy spending time out on the lake.
A couple of hiking trails nearby offer flat terrain, making it easy for children to roam around. This lake is also one of the deepest bays you can find in North Carolina’s Southeastern region. Reservations for the family cabin fill up quickly, so be sure to plan your trip ahead of time. No entrance fees are required upon arrival; however, you must leave after your trip is over before they close the gates. There are signs posted to inform you of nightly closing times. Enjoy your time at this beautiful state park the next time you visit North Carolina.
