Learn more about the history of the Lewis and Clark expedition and Sacajawea’s important role.
Sacajawea is the main focus of this learning center and teaches about the vital role that she had in the Lewis and Clark expedition. There are beautiful artifacts such as Agaidika Shoshone-Bannock beading and crafts. You will see several displays in the center that give more information about Sacajawea's culture and lifestyle and gain insight into how she led Lewis and Clark through Native American lands in the West.
There is a small gift shop that sells books, DVDs, and souvenirs. To help make your visit worthwhile, there are also walking trails around the Salmon area for visitors to see some of the terrains that Lewis and Clark explored. To add to the unique touch to the town of Salmon, there are garden plots where community members can plant and harvest available at the Interpretive Center. This adds to the small town feel of this old mining town. There are also other programs and events they run to help visitors learn more about the Agaidika Shoshone-Bannock tribes and Lewis and Clark's expedition.
