This park is the site of the last battles that occurred during the Second Seminole War in the 1830s.
Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park is a place to learn about the important role in history this land has been a part of. This 61-acre park is located in Jupiter, Florida on the banks of the Loxahatchee River. There is evidence of habitation on the land along the Loxahatchee dating back to at least 5,000 years ago! This park maintains the mission to preserve the cultural resources here and educate the public about the significance of this region. The site of the last great battle of the Second Seminole War is found here, and the first battle of the Loxahatchee, recognized as Powell’s Battle, occurred here in 1838 with the second and final one following just over a week later.
When you visit Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park, you will of course learn the fascinating history that’s embedded here, but you can enjoy an array of other pastimes, such as hiking on the trails, photography, wildlife observation, and picnicking. Riverbend Park is adjacent to this park and has many other great activities available, as well. There is so much to learn about here, and the area is undoubtedly beautiful. Come meander through the pine flatwoods, meadows, and cypress swamps at this remarkable park.
