Discover this magnificent state park in the Florida Keys.
Located off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park offers natural surroundings and exquisite coastal views. The park encompasses 70 miles, and the reefs are brimming with life. This is the site of the third-largest coral barrier reef in the world. You can see the coral reefs via a glass-bottom boat tour, or go snorkeling or scuba diving for a fully immersive experience.
At John Pennekamp, there are over 260 species of assorted fish and about 80 different species of coral. Visitors are likely to see parrotfish, snappers, sea turtles, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins while exploring the reef. Other outdoor activities you can do include kayaking, paddleboarding, and watching the aquatic creatures. There are two main beaches here, Canon Beach and Far Beach. Canon Beach is perfect for offshore snorkeling, and there is a historical Spanish shipwreck nearby. Far Beach is the ideal spot for sunbathing in this tropical paradise.
