Take a short trail leading to an overlook of a beautiful sandstone canyon.
Five miles from Goblin Valley State Park is a slot canyon with family-friendly hiking trails. It also offers a more challenging loop for those that want a longer hike. The first trail is only 1.8 miles long round trip, with the longer loop stretching about 8 miles eventually converging with Belle Canyon. Different colored sandstones can be seen along Little Wild Horse Canyon and are categorized as a suitable introductory hike for those interested in navigating other slot canyons. The trail may have a few unsteady places but is easy for people of any age to navigate.
This is a popular hike for many people; however, beware of the narrows in this slot canyon. You will have to turn sideways to make your way through this particular spot. Sometimes water may pool in spots along these trails, but they are usually only ankle deep. If you come during the summer, please bring plenty of water with you. The month of August tends to have rain in the afternoons in this region, so hike as early as possible to avoid potential flash flooding that may occur.
