Visit some extraordinary cliff dwellings in Arizona.
The Navajo National Monument is located in Northern Arizona in the Navajo Nation territory. Here you can see well-preserved cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloan people. There are three particular settlements you should look for The Keet Seel, Betatakin, and Inscription House. These are some of the best cliff dwellings that you can find in Arizona.
This monument is part of the National Park Service, and there is no fee for entering the park. Camping is also free if you want to stay awhile. Here at the Navajo National Monument, you can learn more about the Native American culture of those who lived here in the past. Visitors can also hear about the ties that the present day tribes have to the ancestral Pueblo tribes.
There are two trails to hike up to the cliff dwelling settlements. If you want, feel free to take a self-guided tour or a ranger-led tour. During these tours, you can see various homes, petroglyphs, pictographs, and other artifacts in the sandstone canyon. Be sure to bring lots of water with you to stay hydrated in this hot desert.
