Visit the largest state park in Kansas.
El Dorado State Park is located about 40 minutes northeast of Witchita, Kansas. With 4,500 acres of land surrounding the vast El Dorado Reservoir, this state park provides plenty of opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, fishing, camping, boating, wildlife observation, and other outdoor recreation. It is known as one of the premier fishing and camping sites in Kansas and boasts an archery range, a state-of-the-art shooting range, and seven different hiking trails. Anglers can expect to catch crappie, smallmouth bass, white bass, blue catfish, or channel catfish in the reservoir.
Park office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm (closed daily between 12 and 1 pm for lunch). El Dorado State Park hosts an annual dam jam music festival every summer, usually around late July, making it a fun destination to end your summer vacation.
