Sleep among the towering trees in this incredible national forest.
The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is located off I-5 in northern California. This scenic forest features rivers, lakes, and mountains as far as the eye can see. It is so large that it is split into several sections: Big Bar, Hayfork, McCloud, Mount Shasta, Shasta Lake, Trinity Unit, and Yolla Bolla. The day-use recreation sites are available from mid-May through mid-September. There are countless places to explore, making it nearly impossible to get bored here; it is truly an outdoor enthusiasts' playground.
Camping options include regular campgrounds, RV areas, dispersed camping, and cabins. There are over 50 campgrounds to choose from; some require reservations, and others are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests can camp for up to two weeks at the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, and dispersed campers can stay for up to 30 days in one year. Camping is optimal between May and October; otherwise, you will probably experience inclement weather up here. If you're planning to visit the Redwood National Forest, consider exploring the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on the way there.
