Myakka River State Park is located in southwestern Florida on the outskirts of Sarasota. Popular activities at the Myakka River include canoeing, biking, hiking, birding, fishing, geocaching, and observing wildlife. Amenities include campsites with electrical service to accommodate RVs, fire rings, a dump station (near Old Prairie Campground), a boat launch, and rentable bikes and canoes. If you need a bite to eat, head to the Pink Gator Cafe. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and they serve local delicacies such as alligator stew and seafood gumbo.
A $6 fee applies to all vehicles visiting Myakka River State Park. Nightly camping rates are $26, plus a non-refundable $6.70 reservation fee. Guests are welcome to rent one of the cabins ($70 per night) if they'd prefer. Be aware that you need to bring your own kitchenware if you plan to rent a cabin. This state park is an excellent place to enjoy the great outdoors in the sunshine state.
