Visit the landmark that is home to the famed TV series "Yellowstone".
The Chief Joseph Ranch is a historic landmark in Southwestern Montana. This is the place where the famed TV series, “Yellowstone,” has been filmed. The famed ranch sits in a location where the Salish tribe used to inhabit the area for hundreds of years. Lewis and Clark followed the trails that the Salish tribe used to get into and out of the Bitterroot Valley. This is also where the well-known chief, Chief Joseph, led his tribe when the Nez Perce tribe was fleeing from the United States Army in 1877.
It wasn’t until the 1950s when this ranch was officially named the Chief Joseph Ranch. The ranch was run by the Hollister and Ford families (from Ohio). Later, it was eventually sold and subsequently named after Chief Joseph in honor of the journey he made through the ranch’s property many years before. Guests can rent out the family home to feel what life is like on a ranch. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time since they are often booked several months in advance.
