Enjoy views of ancient canyons and petroglyphs at this Arizona park.
The White Tank Mountain Regional Park encompasses nearly 30,000 acres full of ridges and canyons rising over 4,000 feet. This area is prone to flash flooding due to its various canyons, chutes, and depressions (tanks) in the white granite rock. Many years ago, Native Americans left hundreds of symbols and figures on the rock faces of the White Tank Mountains. Some of the symbols you may see date back to 10,000 years ago.
During your visit, stop by the nature center. It has plenty of parking and exhibits with live native reptiles plus a gift shop. The center has educational programs for children, adults, and families to enjoy. They also have a new library (which opened in 2020) with a large window to see the park. The White Tank Mountain Regional Park offers many activities for visitors such as biking, hiking, camping, horseback riding, picnicking, and stargazing. This park is open from May 1 until October 31, from 5 am - 9 pm daily, and from November 1 to April 30, from 6 am - 8 pm daily. Enjoy your time at this regional park outside of Phoenix, Arizona.
