This 3-mile path in Boston provides amazing views of the Charles River.
The Charles River Esplanade is a historic and scenic riverwalk right in the heart of Boston. Stretching for 3 miles along the Charles River, this path provides top-notch views of not only the river, but also various historical landmarks, bridges, and natural features. The Esplanade is perfect for taking walks, going on bike rides, scenic runs, and picnics. There are also numerous points along the riverwalk that boast the perfect vantage point of the sunset against the Boston skyline.
The Hatch Shell, which is an outdoor amphitheater, is another prominent feature of the Esplanade. The venue was built in 1940 and hosts free concerts and events throughout the year, such as the yearly firework display on the 4th of July. During the spring months, cherry blossoms come to life and add a beautiful pop of color to the area, as well.
If you want to take your Charles River experience to the water itself, you also have the option to rent a kayak or take a lovely guided boat tour, which will allow you to learn more about the history of the area while also receiving a new and amazing perspective of the river.
No visit to Boston is ever really complete without spending some time on the Charles River Esplanade. Regardless of the season, the natural beauty, skyline scenery, recreational activities, and special events make a visit to the Esplanade something you’ll always remember.
